ನೀರ ನೆರೆ ತನ್ನೆದುರಿನಣೆಕಟ್ಟನೊದೆಯುವುದು । ಊರನದು ಕೊಚ್ಚುವುದು ಬದಿಯ ಕಟ್ಟದಿರೆ ॥ ಏರಿಗಳನಿಕ್ಕೆಲದಿ ನಿಲಿಸೆ ಹರಿವುದು ಸಮನೆ । ಪೌರುಷದ ನದಿಯಂತು - ಮಂಕುತಿಮ್ಮ ॥ ೫೩೫ ॥

ನದಿಯ ಪ್ರವಾಹ ಹೊಮ್ಮಿ ಬಂದರೆ ಅದು ಅಣೆಕಟ್ಟನ್ನು ಒಡೆಯುವುದು. ತನ್ನ ಹರಿವಿನ ಹಾದಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬರುವ ಊರುಗಳನೆಲ್ಲ ಕೊಚ್ಚಿಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗಬಹುದು. ಆದರೆ ಅದೇ ನದಿಗೆ ಎರಡೂ ಬದಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕಟ್ಟೆಗಳನ್ನು ಕಟ್ಟಿದರೆ ಅದು ಸಮನಾಗಿ ಹರಿದು ತನ್ನ ಗಮ್ಯವನ್ನು ಕಂಡುಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತದೆ. ನದಿಯ ಶಕ್ತಿಯಷ್ಟೇ ಅಲ್ಲ ಮಿಕ್ಕ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಶಕ್ತಿಗಳೂ ಈ ನದಿಯ ಪ್ರವಾಹದ ಶಕ್ತಿಯಂತೆ ಎಂದು ಉಲ್ಲೇಖ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಮಾನ್ಯ ಗುಂಡಪ್ಪನವರು ಈ ಮುಕ್ತಕದಲ್ಲಿ.
