ದಾಸರೋ ನಾವೆಲ್ಲ ಶುನಕನಂದದಿ ಜಗದಿ । ವಾಸನೆಗಳೆಳೆತಕ್ಕೆ ದಿಕ್ಕು ದಿಕ್ಕಿನಲಿ ॥ ಪಾಶಗಳು ಹೊರಗೆ, ಕೊಂಡಿಗಳು ನಮ್ಮೊಳಗಿಹವು । ವಾಸನಾಕ್ಷಯ ಮೋಕ್ಷ - ಮಂಕುತಿಮ್ಮ ॥ ೩೮೫ ॥
dAsarO nAvella shunakanandadi jagadi । vAsanegaLu eLetakke dikku dikkinali ॥ pAshagaLu horage, konDigaLu nammoLagihavu । vAsanAkshaya mOksha - Mankutimma ॥ 385 ॥
ಹೇಗೆ ನಾಯಿಯು ಕೇವಲ ವಾಸನೆಯಿಂದ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿ ಮತ್ತು ವಸ್ತುಗಳನ್ನು ಗುರುತು ಹಿಡಿಯುತ್ತದೆಯೋ ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ನಾವೆಲ್ಲಾ ಈ ಜಗತ್ತಿನ ಸಕಲ ದಿಕ್ಕುಗಳಲ್ಲಿರುವ ವಾಸನೆಗಳಿಂದ ಸೆಳೆಯಲ್ಪಡುತ್ತೇವೆ. ಸೆಳೆತಗಳು ಹೊರಗಿವೆ ಮತ್ತು ಅವುಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ಸೇರಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲು ಆಸೆಗಳೆಂಬ ಕೊಂಡಿಗಳು ನಮ್ಮ ಮನಸ್ಸಿನಲ್ಲಿವೆ. ಈ ಆಸೆಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಆಶಾ ಪ್ರೇರಿತವಾದ ಸೆಳೆತಗಳು, ನಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿ ಎಂದು ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ನಾಶವಾಗುವುದೋ, ಅಂದೇ ನಮಗೆ ಮುಕ್ತಿ ಎಂದು ಉಲ್ಲೇಖಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಮಾನ್ಯ ಗುಂಡಪ್ಪನವರು ಈ ಮುಕ್ತಕದಲ್ಲಿ.
