ಬಾನಾಚೆಯಿಂ ವಿಶ್ವಸತ್ತ್ವ ತಾನಿಳಿದಿಳಿಗೆ । ನಾನೆನುವ ಚೇತನದಿ ರೂಪಗೊಂಡಿಹುದೊ? ॥ ನಾನೆನುವ ಕೇಂದ್ರದಿನೆ ಹೊರಟ ಸತ್ತ್ವದ ಪರಿಧಿ । ಬಾನಾಚೆ ಹಬ್ಬಿಹುದೊ? - ಮಂಕುತಿಮ್ಮ ॥ ೧೩೮ ॥
bAnAcheyim vishva sattva tAnu iLidu iLege । nAnenuva chetanadi rUpugonDihudo? ॥ nAnenva kEndradine horaTa sattvada paridhi । bAnAche habbihudo? - Mankutimma ॥ 138 ॥
ಆಕಾಶದಾಚೆ ಅಂದರೆ ನಮಗಿಂತ ಬಹಳದೂರದಿ ಇರುವ ವಿಶ್ವ ಸತ್ವವು ತಾನು ಈ ಭೂಮಿಗೆ ಇಳಿದು ” ನಾನು” ಎನ್ನುವ ಚೇತನದ ರೂಪ ತಳೆದಿದೆಯೋ ಅಥವಾ ” ನಾನು” ಎನ್ನುವ ಒಂದು ಬಿಂದುವಿನಿಂದ ಹೊರಟ ಸತ್ವವು ಆಕಾಶದಾಚೆ ಹಬ್ಬಿಹುದೋ ಎಂದು ಒಂದು ಜಿಜ್ಞಾಸಾ ಭರಿತ ಉದ್ಗಾರವನ್ನು ಎತ್ತುತ್ತಾರೆ ಮಾನ್ಯ ಗುಂಡಪ್ಪನವರು ಈ ಕಗ್ಗದಲ್ಲಿ.
"Has the cosmic spirit from beyond the sky descended into this earth and taken form of one's conscience? Or the essence radiating from one's center has reached beyond the skies?" - Mankutimma Translator's note: This is the classical dillemma.
