ತಾಯೊ ತಂಗಿಯೊ ಎನಿಪ ಶುಚಿಯ ಸೌಮ್ಯದ ಸೊಬಗು । ಪ್ರೇಯಸಿಯ ಕರೆವೊಲಾತುರವಡಿಪ ಬೆಡಗು ॥ ಈಯೆರಡು ಸಮದ ರುಚಿ ನಿನ್ನಿನಿಬ್ಬಗೊಳಿಸೆ । ಧ್ಯೇಯ ನಿನಗಾವುದೆಲೊ? - ಮಂಕುತಿಮ್ಮ ॥ ೪೫೩ ॥

ತಾಯಿ ಮತ್ತು ತಂಗಿಯರ ಸೌಂದರ್ಯವನ್ನು ನೋಡುವ ಬಗೆ ಬೇರೆ ಮತ್ತು ತುಡಿತ ಮತ್ತು ಮಿಡಿತದಿಂದ ಕೂಡಿದ ಕರೆ ನೀಡುವ ಪ್ರೇಯಸಿಯ ಸೌಂದರ್ಯವನ್ನು ನೋಡುವ ಬಗೆ ಬೇರೆ. ಆದರೆ ಈ ಎರಡೂ ಭಾವಗಳು ನಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿ ಬರುವುದರಿಂದ ಸೌಂದರ್ಯವನ್ನು ನೋಡುವ ಎರಡೂ ಬಗೆ ಭಿನ್ನ ಭಿನ್ನವಾಗಿದ್ದು ಇವೆರಡೂ ನಮಗೆ ಸಮನಾಗಿ ಆನಂದವೀಯುತ್ತಾ ಇರುವಾಗ ನಮ್ಮ ಧ್ಯೇಯ ಯಾವುದಾಗಿರಬೇಕು ಎನ್ನುವ ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆ ನಮ್ಮ ಮುಂದಿಟ್ಟಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಮಾನ್ಯ ಗುಂಡಪ್ಪನವರು ನಮಗೆ ಈ ಮುಕ್ತಕದಲ್ಲಿ.
There is difference in attraction towards our mother or sisters and that towards a lover. The former is pure and calm. The later creates a lot of emotions and urgent. When these attractions pull you in different directions, what will you go by? One has to ponder hard and find a way to reconcile - Mankutimma
